A little information about Turkey 🇹🇷
Turkey is a transcontinental nation located at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, bordered by eight countries: Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest, Georgia to the northeast, Armenia, Azerbaijan and the exclave portion of Nakhchivan, Iran to the east, and Iraq and Syria to the south. Although a small part of its territory (approximately 3%) is in Europe, the majority of Turkey (97%) extends over Asia. The country has coastlines on the Aegean Sea to the west, the Mediterranean Sea to the south and the Black Sea to the north, which gives it a strategic geographical position. Its most famous city, Istanbul (formerly known as Byzantium and then Constantinople), has historically been an important commercial and cultural center, and has been the capital of three successive empires: the Roman, the Byzantine, and the Ottoman.
Turkey’s history is deeply rooted in various civilizations that have settled or conquered the region over the millennia, from the Hittites and ancient Greeks, through the Roman Empire and the Byzantine, to the Ottoman Empire. This rich historical tapeza has left an immense cultural and architectural legacy throughout the country. Today, Turkey is a parliamentary republic with a diversified and growing economy. It is a member of the G20, a group of the world’s leading economies, and is known for its agricultural products, automotive industry, tourism and textiles, among other sectors. Turkish culture, with its famous cuisine, music, art and literature, reflects the mix of Eastern and Western influences that have shaped the country over the centuries.
